Atmospheric Dispersion Modeling

Atmospheric Dispersion Modeling surveys are carried out by using computer based packages such as ADMS 3 & AERMOD which are able to predict ground level concentrations of pollutants from industrial installations taking into account the surrounding buildings, topography and meteorological conditions.

These packages are used to model the impact of existing and proposed industrial installations with regards to the surrounding environment.

Current and future air quality can be assessed with air quality standards including:-

  • EU Air Quality Directive
  • UK Air Quality Strategy Objectives
  • World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines.

The uses of such modeling packages include:

  • IPPC authorisations and variations
  • Stack height determination
  • Odour modeling
  • Environmental impact assessments
  • Safety & Emergency planning

Our air quality team have a strong technical capability together with the knowledge of current environmental legislation governing pollutant releases to atmosphere and ground level concentrations.
