REMONDIS PRESS RELEASE
Posted on: June 20, 2011
Environmental Compliance Ltd has successfully secured planning permission for Remondis to develop a Hazardous Waste Management Facility on part of the former BICC site in Prescot.
Remondis is one of the largest waste and recycling companies in the world, with 500 sites worldwide collecting and processing over 25 million tonnes of recyclable material every year.
The company is seeking to relocate to the Prescot site as it has outgrown its existing site at Blackrod, Bolton; where it has been successfully operating for more than 30 years. The new, larger, Prescot facility will be capable of handling up to 69,000 tonnes of recyclable materials and waste each year.
The new waste management facility will have a positive impact on the regeneration of South Prescot as it will ensure the extensive refurbishment of an existing industrial site and the creation of 70 skilled jobs.
The application was considered by the Planning Committee of Knowsley Council on the 9th June 2011.
Environmental Compliance Ltd will shortly be submitting an application for an Environmental Permit for the site, to the Environment Agency.
