Environmental Noise Overview

Environmental Compliance Ltd can conduct environmental noise assessments to BS 4142:1997 Method for rating industrial noise affecting mixed residential and industrial areas and Planning Policy Guidance 24 (PPG24) Planning and Noise for the following applications:

  • to investigate noise complaints;
  • baseline noise surveys for environmental impact assessments;
  • for compliance with planning permission;
  • for compliance with improvement conditions.

Environmental noise assessments are routinely carried out to outline the considerations to be taken into account in determining planning applications both for noise-sensitive developments and for those activities which generate noise. Once an environmental noise survey has been carried out, Environmental Compliance can recommend appropriate levels for exposure to different sources of noise and advise on the use of conditions to minimise the impact of noise.

Environmental Compliance’s environmental noise specialists can also undertake computer modelling to predict the potential noise impact of a proposed new development, or modifications to an existing site on selected sensitive receptors.
